This is not a place to go if you are in a hurry. The vibe is laid back holiday pace, if you fine with this you will enjoy the tranquility. Great service by Lettie. A pleaseant relaxing meal, spread out over several hours.
When I read about the best Pizza in the Country it triggered my curiosity, in McGregor, I thought this must really be special. I was on a mission to taste this Pizza and has been fortunate to “test Drive” the Restaurant for the first time during the 2014 Wacky Wine weekend. It was really beyond my expectation. It is a rich in flavour vegetarian Pizza with elements that complement each other perfectly and trigger your taste buds to ask for more. The Pizza has consistency and texture that make it easy to eat. The interior decoration of the restaurant is in the style of an English Lords lounge. The styling is tasteful and the application of light creates a warm amber ambiance that set the tone for a treatment of a lifetime. This first experience asked for more and I booked at the Lords Guest Lodge where the restaurant is located, for a weekend to get the full experience of this amazing gem hidden in the heart of the Western Cape. To say it is a best kept secret is to make a understatement of something that I feel should have been featuring on Top Billing regularly.
The restaurant form part of the Lord’s Guest Lodge, surrounded by beautiful luscious gardens, with water features nestled in the well balanced layout that invite you to relax and enjoy the facilities. It’s simply beautiful, and is enjoyed with a panoramic view of the Valley facing the Langeberg Mountains.
Back to the restaurant, the food is very well prepared, and presented. It feels like you eat the results of a Master Chef competition final. I had the Fig and Camembert Salad as a starter. The flavours fill your mouth with surprises that make you wish that it could be your main course, an absolute divine starter, than again the Pizza, another confirmation that the chef’s knowledge of food and what belongs together, is captured on this thin but tasty base. You don’t add salt; neither ground black pepper because you want to enjoy the naked tastes of the elements on this Pizza. With that I enjoyed a bottle of the Lords Shiraz 2010 Vintage, equally flavoured and smooth Shiraz that completed the meal with just the right support. I closed my meal with the Bread pudding, normally something that would not appeal to me, but what a surprise! Simply an awesome dessert.
The service in the restaurant matches the good food and the luxurious decoration and setting. The staff and management are friendly and are prepared to really go the extra mile to make the customers feel that they are special. This secret needs to be experienced not by everybody, but by people that has an appreciation for the things that distinguish them from the standard and categorise you as exceptional with exceptional knowledge and experiences.
To be enjoyed, only if you want to count yourself lucky!!

    Absolutely love this place.
