This review may best be started by Quoting Anton Ego's review in the movie Ratatouille. "But there are times when a critic truly risks something, and that is in the discovery and defense of the new. Last night, I experienced something new, an extraordinary meal from a singularly unexpected source. To say that both the meal and its maker have challenged my preconceptions is a gross understatement. They have rocked me to my core." While we may not be critics, I can share my review from a Foodie perspective, and the quote sheds a small light of truth to this little gem, in a Town boasting many unique culinary experiences. The Beetroot and Butternut Salad was a phenomenal starter while there is a main meal that includes chicken, our next visit will most definitely see that on the order list. The main meals are hearty home style plates that are constantly being refined, both the Kudu and Sirloin cuts were cooked to perfection. A "rare" ability for most South African chefs, all pun intended. The Hero of the dinner was of course the Coconut Pannacotta with Pineapple sauce, arguable the smoothest Pannacotta you will find outside of Cape Town CBD. To recommend this restaurant would in many ways increase its popularity and any future chances of us getting a booking, a necessary means to the delight of all who may seek to find good food and a quaint setting in the centre of Tulbagh.
