This is an Italian spot situated in Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton.
Worked there a whole month in the kitchen as a chef, was fired after head chef set up an employee to argue with me insult me, and get me fired because of that. Was Only Paid R1000 for working there a Whole month, bunch of criminal's . Especially the head chef there Andy was really racist towards me because I was Indian.
Ordered salmon and prawn rissoto and my husband ordered lamb shank. After about 5mins of eating I discovered a cockroach in my food. The supervisor was notified and after a 10min wait we were told thank you for not making a big scene with the other customers and we did not have to pay. So disgusted and felt like throwing up.
After a fabulous media lunch in October, I took my family out from the UK, including six year old nephew, for lunch at Septimo's a couple of weeks ago. The food, ambience and service was as good as I remembered. We had salad, two servings of bruschetta and two lots of zucchini fries (they're that good!). My nephew was enchanted with the fries - he had no idea he was eating vegetables! I had my usual Aperol spritzer and my sister enjoyed a cocktail from the new menu. It's a wonderful way to welcome people to Johannesburg, with an international feel and in the presence of the iconic Nelson Mandela statue.
Had a wonderful Sunday afternoon with family and friends visiting from New Zealand and from Dubai at Septimo. The chefs board starter platter has a variety of nibble such as dark meaty olives, a selection of meats and cheese, nuts, fresh warm breads and the table favorite being the picked aubergine.
3 of us ordered the mains special of the day fillet wrapped in phyllo pastry which is a must!! My friend ordered the clam creamy pasta and her husband ordered a pizza. Our waitress was very friendly, and kept the wine bottles chilled and ready to top us up. She did drop a couple of plates when she was clearing up but that happens.
Totally recommend this place for a night out with friends.
Just read Tina Panayi’s review! I usually do not waste my time writing reviews on restaurants as I see them quite unfair and I feel many times vicious and too personal. They become for some diners a matter of personal vendetta when the owner dares to reply and challenge their reviews. Another point being that many many satisfied customers do not take the time to write a positive review, making the ratings skewed and one-sided.
On the contrary, any measure of dissatisfaction pushes these unhappy souls to let the world know and do their best to damage a business (unless of course they were sent by the competition).
Having been in this business my whole life I sadly notice these reviews can break a business for no good reason. If you’re not satisfied please do contact the owner and share your thoughts and concerns. Give them a chance to set things right before going public for the kill!
How would you feel if anyone could go public and let your clients, colleagues, and boss know they were dissatisfied with your services without approaching you first??? Punching below the belt always has a karmic way of coming back to you in life sooner or later.
As far as Septimo’s is concerned, I’ve dined there several times
and I’ve always enjoyed not only the food but mostly the personalized attention from the management and owner. This is not a debate. I won’t reply to any comments.
I loved our experience at Septimos. Great location, comfy restaurant, good service (especially with buzzer on the tables which we were advised is new) and delicious food. I started with the meatballs which were superb. Then had the pork belly which were excellent and rounded off my meal with a pastry from the Patachou tray that was brought to the table. My partner started with the octopus which I tasted and thought very good, followed by the steak that had been rubbed with black pepper and ground coffee beans. She likes her meat medium. I would have chosen medium rare but I still enjoyed the small bite she kindly afforded me. We lurved the grapefruit flavored gin cocktails too. Faultless and very enjoyable evening. Will return.
If there was a ZERO star for Food I would have selected that.
A restaurant that will never see me.
Food is disgusting - you can't eat it.
And the Manager needs an attitude adjustment
