Felt like Indian last night so went to Thava not really knowing what I wanted besides Indian. Vibin, the manager came over and spend time running through my likes and dislikes. We settled on some homemade lamb samosas and vegetable patties for starters and they had the great ideas to offer all their dishes in Tapas portions so we shared some chicken Jalfrezi, lamb Vindaloo and some Dingri Mattar. The deep fried ice cream is a must for dessert as it also cleanses the pallets. Definitely the Indian restaurant in Joburg and a place to remember
I eat at Thava often, like once a week often!! That’s how good it is. That’s how my taste buds start to moan if I do not indulge them often enough. I have never had a bad meal there. The service is good, the manager Vibin is always on hand to suggest dishes, and he knows his stuff. The menu is extensive, there is something for everyone. Prices are reasonable and you will not regret eating there. Ever!!
Took some overseas guests there last night and gave them an experience that they will remember for long. On arrival the GM Vibin was there to welcome us. Gave us the run down on the history of the restaurant and the food then we left the choice to him. Because of the very smart Tapas portions on offer we enjoyed an array of food. Starters were chilly prawns, vegetable patties and an assortment of chicken tandoori. The main courses were Lamb Vindaloo (very spicy but delicious) Chicken Korma, Fish Tikka Masala and 2 vegetarian dishes that pleased one of the ladies (and me too). Various breads prepared at the windows in the tandoor added to the pleasure. Some deep fried ice cream and Gulam Jamub ended a great meal. Highly recommended
Hubby is vegetarian and when we visited there,we were referred to this awesome restaurant by a friend. Hubby had the veg Biryani and I ate the lamb.We are from dbn and didn't expect much but were pleasantly surprised, delicious meals and great service.Thank you
Had a business meeting in Norwood and decided to takle my clients to Thava. As usual the food was full of flavour and authentic. Started with some Chilli chicken hot but not burning. We followed that with 4 tapas portion of various dishes, Kasturi chicken, Lamb Vindaloo, Dingri Matha and some Dal. The rice was light and fluffy and we can only recommend the Kerala Paratha exclusive to Thava. The service was attentive and the waiters knowleageable definetely a place to remember
