Owner's description

It all began with hunger on a beach in Madagascar. A man on an old bicycle answered our craving for great bread; his bike stacked high with fresh baguettes. From stone-ground flour, to Karoo olives, award-winning boerenkaas, free-range eggs and farm-fresh produce, Vovo Telo uses some of the best ingredients. Pick up breads and pastries fresh out of the oven, or linger a while and enjoy a meal.

I used to be a fan. Unfortunately, when a restaurant serves iodated table salt instead of (at least) a salt grinder, I have my reservations. The people who work there are amazing. Food portions have become smaller.
Arrived at 6:48 was first customers to be seated requested 2 coffees 1 x latte amd 1 x Cappuccino. 8 other people were served coffee before ours arrived. Got coffee at 7:15 after complaining. Then ordered 2 breakfast 5 minute later was told that they do not have salmon for the eggs benedetto (took bacon). Food arrived, no benedict sauce on eggs, stale croussant (probably a day old), dripping in oil or butter, no garnishing on the plate. My wife's breakfast was supposed to have cheese sauce, not given had to ask for it. Pancakes were dripping in oil and cheese sauce was all lumpy. Definitely not going back there and not at that price. This is the kind of food I would have expected to be server at a corner cafe in an industrial area. Table top was loose and kept moving off the legs when it was bumped.
I am a huge Vovo Telo fan and am always impressed by their delicious offerings but today I was sadly let down.
My order was incorrect TWICE and this was after waiting 25 minutes for a simple coffee and a slice of cake! Eventually I had to ask for it to be given to me to take away as I couldn't wait any longer. Very disappointing...
It was a great find to come across Vovo Telo in Sandton whilst on holiday recently. The food was excellent & we were able to bring a bottle of wine from the neighbouring wine store to enjoy with our meal with no extra charge. The staff were very helpful & attentive, but meeting Lynn, the Manager was the extra bonus - such a lovely Lady! We enjoyed our first visit so much that we made a point of returning on our last day before we left SA to return home to Ireland and enjoyed our second visit as much as our first. Thanks Lynn & all our Staff. If we are ever in Sandton again in the future we will definitely be back.
From March, changed management and all is perfect. Thanks Mrs Lynn.
