Owner's description

Established in 1992, Col’Cacchio pizzeria specialises in traditionally inspired Italian food with its crisp, thin-based pizzas and a variety of freshly prepared salads and pastas. After 22 years, Col’Cacchio pizzeria has 28 branches nationwide and aims to be the “pizzeria unico” for consumers who want consistent, healthy food in a casually sophisticated environment. Top quality ingredients are sourced to ensure the food is nutritious and fresh. The menu provides a wide choice of combinations and dishes, with over 50 different pizzas, 20 salads and 20 pasta options. Items range from traditional favourites like the Principessa pizza – classic Margherita made with fior di latte mozzarella, topped with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and a drizzle of olive oil – to more exotic dishes like the La Zizou pizza made with seven-hour lamb stew, balsamic cherry tomatoes, spring onion, garlic, fresh basil and basil-pesto mayonnaise. There are options for those with food allergies or restricted diets, such as yeast-free, sugar-free, dairy-free, wheat- and gluten-free pizza bases, as well as wheat- and gluten-free pasta. There are no added preservatives or added MSG in any dishes.

A favourite for families, Col'Cacchio Cavendish offers something for everyone. Be it generous bowls of steaming pasta (my favourite being spaghetti and meatballs) or their more traditional wood-fired pizza, you will find something to satisfy your appetite. Favourite pizzas include the spicy Nacho Libre and Millamoo's Meatball pizza. Salads are also satisfying and varies - we love the Caprese. Kid's menu available and they stay entertained with pizza dough and cookie cutters, or drawing on the paper tablecloths. They don't take bookings and are busy over weekends, so get there early if coming with kids!

Me and my spouse decided to go to Cavendish Square for a Sunday dinner. We have been to many pizza restaurants in Cape town. We walked passed Col'Cacchio's and decided why not, the prices were perfect for pizzas. Our waiter was Nathan, he gave excellent serive, the pizzas were the best I have ever tasted and we loved the Tiramisu. We  will be back for sure.

The best pizza place in Cape Town. What adds to the amazing food is the service! You never have to worry about anything, it's like a 5 start restaurant and hotel all wrapped into one. I am a weekly visitor and that will never change.

We were very excited about the celebrity chef July deal advertised in the Friday Cape Times. On Friday night we ordered a large lamb ribbetjie, I kept looking at the pizza banner and down on my plate to make the comparison - eventually I apporached the waiter and asked to point out the lamb ribbetjie. What was evident for me was the pear and a lot of braised onion. Though its hard times one should either not prepare something or state that you offer the best pizza - I don't mind forking out a little bit extra for a treat (hardly any mozzarella and I can't even recall the bechamel base but I do recall two slices of my thin base was 'blackened' / burnt around the edge). Having to catch a movie I didn't want to cause a delay or leave on an empty stomach - I just won't eat there again...

Great pizza always, salads inconsistent amongst the branches, repeatedly very bad service.
