Owner's description

Bertus Basson's new venture is now open at Hidden Valley. This is a self-service eatery offering guests a choice of either a burger and fries or fish and chips. Because it is an out-door dining concept, the trading of this spot is weather dependant and guests can contact Overture Restaurant before heading down to The Deck.

Had to wait hour and a half for burgers. Service very bad. They cook 2 patties at a time. Will not go again.
A very tasty lunch box feel in a breathtaking setting. The calamari and chips are beautifully golden and scrumptious. Although I love the lack of scurrying waiters on the deck (semi self-service) contributing to the tranquility of the setting, service and turnaround time needs serious attention.
In summary my experience was great location, appalling service & overpriced cafeteria food. 12:45pm and sold out of something as simple as burger patties. I would have tried their other 2 lunch options of fried calamari & oven chips or undercooked smoked chicken wings (I’m not kidding most people at our table threw them in the bin) & chips but a bunless burger appeared to be the only gluten-free option. This is after being told that the burger patty would need to be served with a bun as the chef has very high standards & wouldn’t allow the bun to be removed due to a gluten intolerance. After finding the manager at Overture he said that the patties would be there in 30 minutes as they were on the way from Stellenbosch. He offered my son a plate of chips in compensation as he also can’t eat gluten. Everyone finished their meals and an hour later we got up to leave as the patties arrived. I was asked if I still wanted to pay for a burger & I declined and bought a much more impressive salad from the Spar on the way home.
This spot is fantastic for a weekend meal! The scenery is picture perfect and the staff are helpful. It was not my favorite burger of all time but it wasn’t bad. Overall- I would recommend this spot
Now this is a unique treat. Unrivalled views with superbly flavoursome food in a no fuss, laid-back environment...what more can you ask for. I know it's famous for its burgers, but go ahead and try the calamari!
