Horst FrehseA great location within the harbour at the V&A Waterfront. A good outdoor dining option in summer (or when the weather’s good). The freshly shucked oysters, fresh crayfish, seafood platter and pan of king prawns are excellent.
The tavern is meant to be famous for its fabulous fish and chips. What a huge disappointment! We ordered 2 meals, fish and chips and also calamari and salad. The fish looked delicious but though; the batter was lovely and light, the fish was awful. It tasted soft and mushy, like fish that had been frozen for too long! The chips were not the best either. The calamari was mediocre and the salad was at least fresh, probably the best part of the meal. Quay Four Please at least use fresh fish, especially given that it's what you're "famous" for.
What a horrible experience! What a waste of money! Ruined what was suppossed to be a special Mother's Day meal for me and my mom. Bad service from waiter who seemed totally disinterested, and was having a conversation with the other waiter while serving us. But most of all, the food was horrible, the worst restaurant meal I have had in years and I eat out regularly. Amount of food and quality of food did not match the prices - food was sparse on the plate but most of all tasted horrid. Seafood was definitely not fresh. Worse still, when I called the manager with regard to the food in particular the piece of supposed line fish on my plate (which resembled a small piece of dried snoek and not yellowtail) she became defensive and would not admit that there was something wrong. Eventually told her to buzz off and said we would not be returning.
