Food
This could be the best pork belly ever, served with caramelised apple, apple cider sauce, and choice of starch, vegetables or salad. Or try the teriyaki chicken burger with avo, pineapple and caramelised onion. The creative menu also features a warm spicy bean or classic Caesar salad. If you’re feeling more decadent, go for fresh oysters.

Wine
The interesting selection is rather expensive, from R126 for whites and R210 for reds.

Service
Laid back and slow at times.

Ambience
European-style street café meets retro chic. The look is complemented by staff uniforms with striped old-fashioned aprons.

And...
Order a warming dark or white hot chocolate. (CR, October 2012)

  • Service is pathetic, food is even worse!!! Went on Monday with friend for dinner. Had the pork belly as it was highly recommended. Got uncooked potatoes with my meal. Couldn't find my waiter to complain. Later we were both horribly ill even up until yesterday! Not an experience anyone would want especially if you are pregnant! Very very disappointing for a R400.00 bill!!! Not recommended at all. Spur would of been a better option, now that in itself speaks volumes!

  • Tribecca used to be my most favourite cafe/restaurant/hang out place in Pretoria. The food is good and the coffee excellent however the service is shocking! And its deteriorating. For the last few times I've had to wait over an hour to order my food. On one occasion my waiter walked away from me while i was busy ordering!! I asked him to come back. He returned 10 minutes later and did the same to me! Finally on the third try, he managed to hang around long enough for me to finish my sentence. I cant afford to waste 1-2 hours there every time I want to eat or have a quick cup of coffee so I have stopped going there altogether and have found other good alternatives. Its a pity - Tribecca really has been apart of my life here for the past 5 years and will miss it.

  • Service was shocking. Waiter brought food and that was all we saw of him. No more drinks no follow up,nothing. Had to get up to fetch my own condiments and eventually stacked our plates on an empty table behind us. Had to go and request the bill which is the only time we saw our waiter again. I asked him what went wrong with the service to which he replied that he was in the toilet and asked someone else to check on his table/s.
Expensive bill for a really bad experience.

  • Excellent atmosphere and interior- world class. I love the fact that one can go there straight after work, flushed from gym or on a dinner date and always get that chic, metropolitan experience.

The food is exceptional- one of my favorite coffee spots in Pta! The apple-crumble cake is the BEST I have ever tasted, and one can only have it at Tribeca Std Lynnwood Bridge.

I can, however, critique the service- some times it is perfect, at other times the waiters are distracted and inattentive. However, I suggest an attitude-check once in a while is probably the only remedy for bad service.

Besides that, no complaints. Keep up the great coffee.

  • Best cheeseboard in Pretoria only need to add some extra bread, love the warm comfortable atmosphere inside for winter, and perfect place to relax outside in summer, have a great but slightly over priced wine list. One of my favorite spots in Pretoria.

  • Lack of management , to many waiters running around and queing at the coffee bar Coffee very darkroasted but bitter and no crema on Americano. Cutlery needs replacing Omelette was served cold and toast burned. We used to believe Tribecca Lynnwood Bridge had the best coffee and venue and always went there when visiting Pretoria .Maybe the owners has to many branches operating in Pretoria and does not have hands on the Lynnwood Bridge branch.Eventhough they have the best coffee beans it tastes much better at other outlets that also serve their coffee. 26/04/2014

  • Went to Tribeca Standard at Lynnwood bridge today for the first time and it was incredible! The food was amazing, haven't had such brilliant food in quite a while. The service was great and the general atmosphere at the restaurant was really enjoyable.
    Just my type of place!

  • I am so disappointed in Tribeca at Lynnwood bridge! My meal last night was inedible! Our table was ignored for most of the evening and the service was shocking. My "toasted" chicken sandwich on rye bread was as dry, tasteless and very hard to swallow! Yuck! There was more feta cheese on it than chicken - in fact, I couldn't find the chicken in the sandwich! Why not then call it a "toasted" feta cheese sandwich? I won't be going back, thank you. It doesn't suit me to pay for a meal I can't eat. I left hungry and made myself a palatable sandwich at home! What an awful night out.

  • The service was excellent (my waiter was Smith), the food arrived very fast and the quality of the food was exceptional and very tasty.

I will definitely recommend Tribeca Standard to anyone looking for a good breakfast or a coffee. Possibly the best breakfast I have had so far.

  • I made the mistake of going back to Tribeca after a string of food disappointments. They again lived up to their reputation. The order came out wrong and when I spoke to the manager about it she didn't even care enough to look at me when I spoke to her. Needless to say I will not be going back. Food, service and management is too inconsistant, I wish they would realise that because they can be so much better.

  • I wanted to treat the whole family and took them there for what must have been one of the most expensive lunches we've ever had.

Hoping for good food - this is TriBeCa after all - I ignored glares and hisses from the family and told them to relax, I'll order all the food this time. The menu is quite limited and there is no kiddies section, but I used the opportunity to pick what I hoped would be the better items on the menu and also what the receivers would appreciate and enjoy, knowing the tastes and expecting a royal treatment given the price.

What a disappointment when it finally arrived. The pizza was raw and moist and falling to pieces, the roasted chicken was in fact cooked and tasteless, the 'seed roll' was just thick slices from a normal loaf of bread - the kind of toasted sandwich you get when mom is sick and dad has to pack your lunchbox, the hamburger was stale, the chips full of dark spots and obviously the lowest quality potato available in Gauteng and the service was appalling.

If you want to feel cheated go to TriBeCa.

I could have had much better food for a third of the price somewhere else. The unique combination of the cheapest ingredients money can buy, an unqualified cook, an apathetic waiter and irritating noise levels served to ruin the whole experience.

Oh yes, and the bill included the tip - not that the waiter bothered to even return the change. A nice move to ensure they pat themselves on the shoulder for a job poorly done.

The only thing remotely good was the coffee, but it also embodies the whole spirit of TriBeCa. Whilst pricey, the small cup and bad service ensures you are kept in your place and reminds you that money can not buy you happiness - an important albeit expensive lesson you did not really want to learn.

Reflecting on it I realise that TriBeCa gives the whole industry a bad name. The so-called roast chicken especially disappoints as it looks like some experiment a hurried mom executed in bad style using a fork and the left-over chicken of last week.

Just like you don't complain to a hurried mom, TriBeCa is run in such a way that you eventually eat up and shut up and, oh yes, unlike at home, pay up.

  • Love the food, love the restaurant, absolutely hate the service. It's a typical example of front of house ruining the whole dining experience. I had to personally re-order my drinks from the bar on three occasions (I only ordered 3 drinks in total). The bill which I received was incorrect. The table next to us had waited over 30 minutes for their first drinks. I believe they also left without ordering food. What's worse is the place was half empty. A real shame.

  • Ambience and decor was very apt...pity though they had no 'sound proofing' so it was rather noisy despite not being full. Service was average but pleasant. Menu is limited; food is well presented on hot plates..includes garnishing but rather mediocre in flavour especially for the price they charge.

  • Had a working lunch at Tribeca Standard yesterday. Although pricey, it was nice to find a menu which had me wanting to order many dishes all at once. The steak and pork belly was good, oysters deliciously fresh. Service was friendly and efficient.

  • I continue to be disappointed by service and food standards at local restaurants. Tribeca Standard is no exception. Four of my friends and I went for breakfast which took almost an hour to arrive at our table. The capuccino, which took 15 minutes to arrive at my table, was a latte, and in spite of asking for my poached eggs to be "well done" they arrived less than well done, with the hollandaise sauce already forming a film on top. When we asked to speak with the manager we were told she was busy. After insisting, we were told she would be with us in about 10 minutes. Hmmm....dedication to customers, service?
