Where to celebrate Father’s Day 2022 in Cape Town and surrounds

They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so show dad how much you care by taking him out for a delicious meal.

Treat dad to a special two-course lunch for R289 per person. Select a main and dessert each from their select menu, including Chateaubriand steak or BBQ pork ribs and chocolate fondant or malva pudding. For an extra R69, you can select crumbed mushrooms, spicy chicken livers or fried calamari strips as a starter. In addition, if you haven’t bought dad a gift, worry not! You can buy Cattle Baron’s famous BBQ basting sauce and seasoning salt or their habanero paste for dads who like it hot!

Cavalli Restaurant (Somerset West)

For an extra-special lunch, celebrate dad at Cavalli with a six-course set menu for R650 per person. Sports fans will particularly enjoy this one as it a tour of one of SA’s largest private sporting memorabilia collections, as well as a welcome gin cocktail.

FABER (Paarl)

For a farm-to-fork sharing meal the whole family will enjoy, head to Faber. The three-course menu starts with a bread board, followed by two starters to share, a plated main and a dessert. This family-style feast costs R560 per adult and R200 per child under 12 years.

Kunjani Wine Estate (Stellenbosch)

Relax with good food and good wine in the Winelands this Father’s Day. Choose between either two courses for R380 per person or three courses for R470 per person. For starters, you can opt for either oxtail broth or honey-and-soy Norwegian salmon; for mains, choose panko-crusted lamb, “surf and turf”, or pan-fried hake; and for desserts, take your pick between sticky date pudding or a cardamom-and-lemon slice.

Liberty’s Restaurant (Salt River)

The spread includes a range of delights, starting with a welcome drink on arrival. Kids have their own special menu, which includes a candy floss machine!

For a musical afternoon to remember, treat dad to the Stardust Variety Show and a four-course meal for R450 per person, starting at 12pm on Sunday. Kids under 12 years dine for R295. Adults start with mushroom arancini and chicken wings, before selecting a main course of either linefish, chicken-and-mushroom pie, roasted beef sirloin or aubergine lasagne. Meanwhile, kids are welcomed with cheesy pita pockets, and for mains they can choose a burger or mac ‘n cheese. For dessert, the whole table can enjoy the chocolate malva pudding.
