Here’s how you can get free chips from Nando’s – and it’s for a good cause

Iconic South African fast food brand Nando’s has launched a clever new initiative that aims to address the harsh levels of food inequality in the country. The restaurant chain that began in the late 80s has quickly become a brand with a brave and bold (some would say controversial) marketing approach.

At the start of level-5 lockdown almost exactly a year ago, people began stocking their pantries for what some would deem an apocalypse. Apart from toilet paper, countless tins of goods were thrown into supermarket trollies and then stashed away for when they were needed. Chances are, you probably have a couple of tins of baked beans or tuna lurking around that you won’t be using any time soon?

This is where Nando’s #TinForTjips campaign comes in.

Nando’s is offering you the chance to get a free portion of their chips in exchange for a tin of food. Together with humanitarian relief and development organisation Joint Aid Management, Nando’s will donate all the tins to pre-schools around the country.

So the next time you crave a bag of chips, see what you have in the pantry first.

Here’s how to redeem your free portion of chips:

– Order chips on the Nando’s App.

– Hand over your tin of food.

– Get a free portion of chips. It’s as easy as that!

(Just select ‘Tin for Tjips‘ at checkout. Ts&Cs apply)
