Ouma’s soups and bredies

Towerbosch on Knorhoek Wine Estate, is serving up a new wholesome soup & Bredie lunch menu from May until the end of August.

Chef duo Westley Müller and Carmen van der Merwe have a reputation for robust reinventions of Ouma's recipes, and this latest menu includes an array of hearty soups like roasted cherry tomato, Malay spice cauliflower, red lentil, home smoked haddock and chunky pea and ham, which will change daily.

There will also be a selection of one pot bredie wonders including authentic green bean, oxtail in red wine, tomato, lamb curry, a ‘drunk’ chicken coq au vin and a venison ragout.

“We pride ourselves in ‘salt-and-pepper’ food bursting with natural flavours” says Westley. Available from Wednesdays to Saturdays in addition to the normal a la carte menu, the simple, warming menu is available for R90 per person, and includes a Soup of the Day followed by a slow-cooked stew and a glass of Knorhoek Estate’s Two Cubs Cape style red blend.
