Our ultimate Sunday lunch: David Higgs, Bertus Basson, John Shuttleworth and Michael Cooke

This week has been a rollercoaster ride. Ahead of the most magnificent Sunday lunch of the year – our Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards – we asked chefs at the 20 nominated restaurants to prepare their idea of the ultimate Sunday lunch. From prawns on the braai to roast goat and Yorkshire pudding to lemon posset, the dishes prepared by our nominees have shown the diversity and deliciousness of South African cuisine.

Want to be there on the day to see which of our nominee chefs make the 2015 Top 10? mblife is giving away two tickets to the 2015 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards at Mistico Equestrian Centre in Paarl on 15 November. You’ll be chauffeur-driven to the venue in a Mercedes-Benz SUV, with flights and two nights’ accommodation also included (if needed). To enter, simply watch the chefs prepare their Sunday lunch in the videos below and answer an easy question here.

For David Higgs, Sunday lunch meant watching over his grandmother’s shoulder.

John Shuttleworth takes inspiration from a comforting British classic.

For Michael Cooke, Sunday means cooking with his restaurant family.

At Overture, Bertus Basson heads outdoors to prepare a South African classic.

The competition closes on Sunday 25 October 2015 and is open to readers in South Africa only.
