It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when confronted with the reality of how many South African kids struggle to read. No-one knows this better than Shine Literacy, who have been tirelessly championing child literacy since 2000. Their 850 volunteers run literacy support programmes for kids in 46 schools across three provinces on a weekly basis. To support this worthy cause, Woolies has partnered with Shine to give 2 400 parents and caregivers across SA reading resources and create foundation-phase reading corners in 20 classrooms next year. And you can help. Simply make The Shine Trust a beneficiary on your MySchool or linked Woolies card, then swipe every time you shop at Woolies until 25 December. Make yours the Christmas gift that keeps on giving.

If you haven’t yet, sign up for your MySchool card now and add The Shine Trust as a beneficiary.
