Owner's description

Anna’s Kitchen is a delightful Italian themed four-star restaurant based in Three Rivers, Vereeniging. The root of our food evolved from Italian and French cuisine with a local South African flair. Our passion for great food and service guarantees that our chefs do not compromise food quality, ensuring that only the freshest and highest quality ingredients are used. All our meals are freshly prepared and our produce is locally sourced. Our seasonal specials are bound to get your taste buds tingling. To start your meal, we would recommend our garlic pan fried snails which are served in a phyllo pastry basket with a crispy baguette slice on the side. Moving onto mains our succulent 300g beef fillet with poached and seared bone marrow served with mushrooms and turned potatoes topped with Landaise butter, is a strong Josper favourite. For dessert we would encourage you to try our deep-fried ice-cream, creamy vanilla ice-cream wrapped in phyllo pastry drizzled in honey, that alone is a treat.

Beautiful venue romantic and food is delicious
The decor, ambience and table ware are beautiful.
I have had both a lunch and dinner at this establishment during the past few months and believe they need to attend to quite a few issues. On two out of three occasions, the poor waiter had absolutely no clue. It was evident there was a serious lack of training and this can only be the the fault of the manager and certainly not the poor waiters who are completely out of their depth albeit very willing to try.
The wine list is very inadequate and one would expect it to be more extensive. Perhaps this is the standard in the Vaal and would most definitely not please anyone with even average wine tastes.
The menu is very small for dinner and does not offer a varied choice.
The food was very very disappointing last Saturday 12 July. Two guests unfortunately had Thai Green Curry and the beef was so tough, it could hardly be eaten. We told the waiter to tell the chef that it was really unacceptable but we did not even get the courtesy of an explanation or apology. The fish of the day was quite good.
It never ceases to amaze me why decent restaurants in the Vaal just always have a mediocre standard but still charge the same prices as those in major centres.
Incompetent staff, stale food and care-free management. Could be a great place, yet these short comings see many never return.

Who ever is reading this review must please read this carefully. I live just around the corner from this lodge and it is beautifull from the inside and outside. It is our first time that our family had dinner at Anna Sophia restaurant Friday, 25th January for a birthday celebration and was very disappointed that evening. Their winelist is not great with not good quality wines. You might think for such a lovely place that their wine selection will be like any other 5 star hotel, but it is not to be. Their dinner menu hasn't got a lot to choose from and very limited. Make sure before you come and eat here to have a lot of food and you can still get the main course in. The food they make you is very tasty and well prepared. It is just that their main dish portions are VERY TINY and you feel after eating this that you "might" want to order another plate of food. For the veggie lovers out there, there ain't no side orders of veggies, only the veggies that comes with the food that you've ordered. Their luch menu are much better and more to choose from. Many friends of ours have had breakfast here and said that it was VERY TINY too. So please eat enough breakfast before you go. Maybe a scone or waffel will fill up the small empty gap.
