If you’re a fan of Karen Dudley’s The Kitchen in Cape Town’s Woodstock then you’ll love this little sunny side up café and eatery.
It’s a cute little breakfast and lunch spot in the heart of Rosebank (just opposite the fire station and Brik Café). The menu changes daily with fresh pastries imported from France baked every morning, great coffee and a simple but beautifully put together selection of hot and cold dishes. The Turkish flat bread with labneh, poached eggs and green olives is totally scrumptious as is the warm quinoa porridge served with fresh seasonal fruit, or you keep it simple with the harissa feta or spinach and feta scrambled eggs.
For lunch you’ll be presented with a salad bar filled with deliciously different salads and sandwiches that change from day to day. Think harrisa roasted chickpeas with baby spinach and halloumi, bocconcini with cherry tomatoes, olives and basil and their sensational chicken, celery and grape salad (don’t knock it until you try it). If you’re after something a little more substantial the super dog is the one for you: a super bratwurst in a salty pretzel roll with all the trimmings. Alternatively, the salmon, cream cheese and rocket open sandwich or the Cubano (Alpine ham, smokey mayo, emmental and gherkins on potato bread) are both salaciously good!
