Owner's description

The Italian Club of Cape Town, with its warm and informal atmosphere, provides the perfect backdrop to the brothers Marco and Paolo Palmieris authentic eatery. Their Italian roots and passion are evident in everything they do, from the traditional, relaxed nature of their true Italian cuisine, to the wine list which contains perfectly selected food-friendly local and Italian varieties.

Great food and atmosphere. Dont order starter and main the same time as they will arrive simultaneously.
As lovers of Italian Food we believe we found an absolute gem in this place. Hidden away at the Italian Club, you know it has to be authentic. Their Pizzas are to die for. Best pizzas in Cape Town. Their pasta is fresh, home made and incredible value for money and recently, we discovered their well priced desserts are amazing as well. Their prices are incredibly good and we are firm believers.

Food is stunning. The chicken schnitzel is huge, soft and just right. The mushroom Risotto is truly sublime and you can taste the porcini. The pizzas are the best around and the prices very reasonable. Always has a great ambience on a Friday.

What a pity the excellent food of this venue was ruined by the very poor service! When we arrived on Sunday evening, the surly waitress or manageress made us feel most unwelcome when we asked initially for glasses of water. Even though the restaurant was almost empty, we had no waiter allocated to us. After the initial lady took our order, a different person brought it to the table. Yet another person took my order for cider which took 15 minutes to arrive. Finally, when we were waiting after the plates were removed, we collared another waitress who organised our bill. With lots of waiters and waitresses rushing around, we felt most unwelcome in what should have been a friendly environment.
