Just braai, don’t bring

Coming soon to Joburg is a new chain of restaurants by Elizabeth Sangion (pictured) called The Braai Shack.

The flagship store is in the Design District in Rosebank, and it has a vibey tshisa nyama feel, typical of South African townships. Architect Frans Bergh describes the décor as “shack aesthetic”.

Diners can select a fresh cut of meat at the in-store butchery, then sit back and relax while others do the braaing. Pap, chakalaka and salads are all prerequisite sides. And if you feel like taking the experience home, braai gear, spices and meat are also on sale.
