Learn from the pros with these cooking classes hosted by chefs

If there’s a particular cooking or baking skill you’ve been wanting to master, who better to learn from than the chefs who prepare these meals in their restaurants every day?

The Kitchen Collective

Denise Cowburn-Levy and chef Liam Tomlin of Chefs Warehouse fame host various classes with chefs at The Kitchen Collective Food Studios in the Cape Town City Bowl. Coming up, you can look forward to a risotto masterclass by Ivor Jones; Melting Pot’s John van Zyl’s global street food class; a seafood masterclass by Kurt Hill from Cape Fish; a class based on the cuisine at Liam’s new spot in Bree Street, LOCAL; and a baking class by Chefs Warehouse Maison’s Carine Smit. Classes range in price from R750 to R950 per person.

Richard Bosman

The charcuterie expert now has three courses on offer. His one-day courses take place in Killarney Gardens in Cape Town, where you’ll learn the basics of curing meat and leave with bacon and chorizo to practice curing at home. A lunch of charcuterie, pickles and cheese will also be provided. His new advanced course is for those who have mastered the art of basic curing and are ready to cure half a pig on their own. Or you can make a weekend of it in Simon’s Town, Prince Albert, Plettenberg Bay, Bryanston or Ballito. Visit Richard Bosman’s website for more information.
