Salt is undeniably one of the most important ingredients when it comes to cooking, but its vital role is not often openly celebrated. That’s not case with The Salt Road, however, the new culinary venture of South African chefs Beau du Toit and Craig Cormack, set to open at the Andaz Doha, by Hyatt in Qatar.

More than just a fine-dining experience, The Salt Road Doha will offer guests an immersive exploration of salt’s profound impact on food and culture. Each dish will be a reflection of meticulous research, ancient preservation techniques and a relentless pursuit of flavour. From delicate curing methods to bold, salt-infused pairings, every plate will tell a story.
Beau and Craig are award-winning international chefs known for their groundbreaking work in salt-driven cuisine. Their journey began in Grabouw with Salt at Paul Clüver and later with Salt at Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch, where they redefined the role of salt in gastronomy.

“Salt is more than just an ingredient, it’s history, science, and artistry combined,” says Craig. “It has shaped civilisations, preserved cultures, and transformed food for thousands of years. At The Salt Road Doha, we’re celebrating that journey in a way that’s never been done before.”
The menu will fuse time-honoured traditions with modern culinary innovation and will feature aged meats, seafood and unexpected umami explosions – all taken to the next level with the expert addition of the perfect salt.
“We’re not here to follow trends, we’re here to create something meaningful,” says Beau. “Doha is a melting pot of global flavours, and we’re excited to bring something truly unique to this incredible city.”
