Watch: Three speedy sides for rotisserie chicken

If the dinner-party date’s set but you’re still short on menu ideas, don’t underestimate the impact a simple rotisserie chicken can have – especially when the bird is butter-basted and slow-roasted until the skin is gorgeously bronze and crispy, and the meat tender and juicy. All that’s left to do is jazz it up with a fuss-free, flavourful side.

Think blanched asparagus, olives, red onion and pan-fried halloumi if you’re keen on something crunchy; charred corn with chilli butter, chopped coriander and Parmesan, for a little Mexican fiesta (hello, margaritas) or crème fraîche with ginger, chives and lime juice and fried baby potatoes.
