Valentine’s Day specials in the Winelands

There’s no place in the Western Cape quite as romantic as the Winelands. So place your booking at these spots fast, because they’re sure to fill up fast for leisurely meals on Valentine’s Day.

Bodega Restaurant (Stellenbosch)

Take your loved one to Bodega Restaurant, where Chef Carolize will serve up a tapas-style dinner paired with Dornier wines. The evening will include bubbly on arrival, eight tapas dishes to share and a bottle of Dornier merlot to take home. Dishes to look forward to include seared Norwegian salmon in ponzu sauce, sticky pork belly with Asian coleslaw and a mini espresso crème brûlée. The cost is R900 per couple, with an additional R125 per person for the wine pairing.

Eat@Simonsvlei (Paarl)

Indulge in a Valentine’s dinner featuring dishes like sirloin steak with cheddar biltong sauce and baby potatoes; a seafood platter; chicken Cordon Bleu; strawberry cheesecake and Amarula chocolate mousse. End off with tea or coffee. The dinner costs R265 per person for three courses or R220 per person for two courses.

Gabriëlskloof Restaurant (Bot River)

Gabriëlskloof Restaurant is having its French themed Valentine’s Day celebration on 11 February. Enjoy a three-course meal that will kick off at 12pm with a glass of bubbly and oysters. This all comes at the cost of R400 per person. Orchids will also be on exhibition and for sale.

Oude Wellington (Wellington)

Oude Wellington’s romantic four-course menu includes pan-fried fillet with a red wine reduction, Duchess potatoes and summer vegetables, plus Belgian chocolate fondant with fresh strawberries and candy floss ice cream. Rhebokskloof Restaurant (Paarl)

Feel the love with Rhebokskloof’s Valentine’s open-air cinema. R690 per couple will get you tickets to The Holiday screening, a romantic picnic for two, hay-bale seating, a bottle of wine and two branded wine glasses. A cash bar will also be available. Booking is via Webtickets.

The Restaurant at Grande Provence (Franschhoek)

Dine in exclusivity beneath the stars this 14 February. Five couples will be able to dine in their own private gazebo in the Grande Provence Sculpture Garden. The seven-course Valentine’s dinner served inside will include oysters and a bottle of Grande Provence Brut Méthode Cap Classique, all for the cost of R3250 per couple. Or enjoy the seven-course menu inside the restaurant which, inclusive of a glass of bubbly on arrival, is priced at R950 per person.

Werf Restaurant at Boschendal (Franschhoek)

Couples can enjoy a three-course dinner with a welcome cocktail at Werf Restaurant with entertainment Judy Brown. A Valentine’s gift is also included. Menu highlights include slow-roasted Angus beef rib-eye steaks, tomato marshmallows, baked leek and Italian kisses. The cost is R1050 per person (with an additional R400 per person for the wine pairing). Prices exclude beverages and tip and dinner begins at 7pm. Email for reservations.
