Is this the most decadent Sunday brunch in the Cape?

Majeka House Sunday brunch salmon jarsWhen describing the breakfast at Makaron, the super stylish Stellenbosch restaurant nominated for the 2014 Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards, Eat Out editor-in-chief and confirmed croissant lover Anelde Greeff bestowed the ultimate praise, “It’s like walking into a pastry shop.”

And the good news is that fans can look forward to even more decadence: chef Tanja Kruger is putting on a lingering brunch spread that will stretch from morning to afternoon. Makaron is set to launch the brunch menu on Easter Sunday 5 April 2015, and will offer it every Sunday thereafter between 10.30am and 3pm.

The buffet table will be laden with treats ranging from organic fruit preserves to cured local trout in charming glass jars. While the feast includes the usual sweet fare of fresh fruit and freshly baked pastries, it extends to savoury items like quiche, gravadlax, salads, homemade breads, a traditional roast, a hot dish, local cheeses and charcuterie. And yes, there’s still dessert. Coffee, tea, water and juice are unlimited, and guests can indulge in up to two glasses of sparkling wine or craft beer each.

The buffet costs R395 per person and booking is recommended. Phone 021 880 1549 or email reservations@majekahouse.co.za to reserve a table for your dedicated hours of food worship.
