Owner's description

Silvermist is a family owned Organic Wine Estate located at the top of the Constantia Valley . The farm falls within the Table Mountain National Park and boasts a wide range of natural Fynbos and Forests. Wild animals and birds are prolific and move freely between the National Park and the farm.

The newest edition to the Silvermist family, is The Green Vine Eatery. This restaurant adds a modern, contemporary feel to the old and beautiful scenic attraction which is the farm. Cuisine focuses on great fresh dishes that is both familiar and tasty. Items like eggs benedict, charcuterie boards with fresh bread, cheese and olives can be ordered as well as pastries and sweet desserts.

Terrible service. Food very below par. Maitre D unable to resolve anything. Ruined Mother’s Day. No apologies for anything other than excuses. Don’t be fooled by the view and proximity to La Colombe.
Lovely view but being served 4 crumbed fish nuggets and 7 chips when we ordered the beer battered Hake for R168 is not cool. That's ok - just apologize that you'd made the wrong thing and do the right thing. But the manager (maybe owner) then tried to convince us that it was the right thing, they no longer do hake fillets, just "goujons"(nuggets) and no longer do beer batter, just crumbs. Yet this was news to the waiter. I then asked what would I get if I ordered the kids nuggets and chips for R68, and he said the same thing!!!! Didn't even blink. We had to refuse the food before he went off to check with the chef for a second time. Then came out and said the chef will now make us the beer battered Hake. I asked where he suddenly got the fish and batter from and he just laughed!!! The manager was looking us right in the eye and tried to sell us a kids meal for R168 full knowing they got it wrong. The fish eventually came, all fine. Later, the chef came out but didn't introduce himself, just came round and said there was a miscommunication between him and the staff. Didn't apologize. I had to ask the waiter who that was. The waiter was very embarrassed the whole time about how we were being treated, saying that it's high time someone spoke out against the management. First time visit here with my 11 year old daughter and a friend. Very nice, cosy ambience. Was quite chilly so the doors were closed and two fireplaces kept the place warm. Sure it's lovely to sit out on the terrace when it's warmer - some hardy souls were - can't be South Africans! Nice to find a venue that's also cosy for Winter visits. Breakfast was delicious and nicely presented. Prices reasonable. Had a look at the lunch menu which had some appealing choices. We'll definitely come back again.
Absolutely fantastic - I had my 20th birhtday brunch here and it was lovely. The service and staff were great, very welcoming and friendly - the food was delicious. The Green Vine Eatery is also surrounded by the most gorgeous views. If you are looking for a place to relax with family and friends over a delicious meal or looking for somewhere to celebrate a special occasion, I would highly recommend this restaurant. A truly wonderful experience, and a birthday I'll never forget, I'll definitely be back!
My friends and I had such a Great Breakfast at the Green Vine today. With Todays weather been such a winters day we decided delicious food was what we needed and we all had heard so much about how great the Green Vine is. Seems like I was the only one who didnt know about this hidden gem! It really is that in every way- a fantastic hidden gem. The fires were lit and the view over the Constantia valley superb. Out of all the restaurants and wine farms the Green Vine has BY FAR the best views. I was actually quite taken back at how fabulous the place is. The service was great and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. All the staff were very friendly and had smiles on and were very good. Our Breakfast was great!!! we all tried different items off the Breakfast menu and the food was very good. We all enjoyed our meals. I can see why I have heard such fantastic things about this place as, all in all it really is a great restaurant. They have also just launched there new lunch menu and have a new head Chef. Our table lingered on well over breakfast, overlapping early lunch. I saw quite a few of the lunch meals going out to other tables- and wow the food looked excellent. I will definitely be back for lunch. They also have wifi and the coffee and cakes are really good. Great to know that they are the only certified Organic wine farm in Constantia Valley- and fantastic to find out that they use as much free-range and organic produce as they can. They have just started there own organic vegetable garden to supply the restaurant. The new lunch menu looks great and they have a fantastic specials of the day- all locally sourced produce. They are also expanding and putting in a small shop and deli. This is my kind of a spot and we all agreed we will be back. I even heard the table next to us say they will be back. I Will give you feed back when I visit for lunch
