When two creative chefs collaborate on a project, the outcome often sparks a moment of magic. This is exactly what guests can look forward to at the upcoming Art of Food event in Johannesburg, presented in association with headline sponsor, Lexus South Africa. The event, themed Elemental Fusion: Water, Wind, and Stone, promises an immersive food experience where the elements of nature converge with culinary innovation.

The chosen theme closely aligns with the event’s location – Steyn City in Midrand. This expansive lifestyle estate spans 2 000 acres of lush indigenous parkland and boasts an array of world-class facilities. These include the Nicklaus Design championship golf course, a 50km mountain bike track, and a diverse selection of eateries catering to every occasion (we’ll be sharing more on that soon!).

Headlining the fourth edition of The Art of Food are chefs Freddie Dias and Moses Moloi – both boasting impressive CVs and currently serving Joburg diners some of the finest food in the city.

“We approached the concept by blending our culinary styles and expertise,” says Moses. “We engaged in open communication, shared ideas, and focused on creating a dining experience that seamlessly integrates our individual strengths, resulting in a cohesive and unique menu.”

He says that during the collaborative menu development, the pair discovered unexpected synergies that led to innovative flavour combinations that will be sure to elevate the experience.

As headline sponsor for the event, Lexus states: “Creating food and elevating it into culinary art is fundamentally human, and in its detailed execution, comprises an evolved level of craft. The thoughtful detail and craftsmanship are basic cultural pillars supporting the Lexus brand. The Eat Out partnership, for Lexus, redefines modern luxury and lifestyle experiences.”

Also coming on board as a sponsor will be FNB – who strive to create lasting memories and recognise the importance of holistic advice across life stages – helping families, individuals, and businesses build a strong financial foundation for the future in every industry, including hospitality. Chefs and their teams will be supported by BIRKENSTOCK and will be wearing the brand’s shoes for the duration of the event – keeping them comfy and stylish!

For guests attending The Art of Food experience there will be a carefully curated selection of premium beverages, including Devil’s Peak beer, five-times distilled Albatross Vodka, and the finest DGB wines. Each sip is savoured from Riedel glassware, known for its elegant design and craftsmanship. And as a delightful take-home gift, guests will receive a goodie bag of wonderful things, ensuring memories of the day linger long past the last mouthful and sip.

The Art of Food: Elemental Fusion: Water, Wind, and Stone will take place on 10 March 2024 at Steyn City in Johannesburg.
